Autophagy, Dots & Being Seen

Started a Carnivore diet on Monday. 30 days. As an athlete training 6-7 times a week, it’s a big switch in the midst of a season. I don’t know why I keep doing things like this but I never look back and regret them.

Showcasing the journey on Instagram everyday. Will update you next week.

Been tough so far as my body is adapting to using a completely different fuel source.

You can enter autophagy whilst eating.

Autophagy is a state where the body enters into cellular cleansing. Often cited as being when the body is in a ‘starved state’ but rather a ‘carbohydrate-free’ state.

I recently learnt that the reason we enter autophagy is because our insulin levels have been low enough for long enough to enter a cell-recycling state.

I used to intermittent fast as I chased this autophagy wanting all the benefits of a cellular cleansing.

However, you can enter it by continuing to eat foods like meat which do not spike your insulin. Carbs ensure you cannot enter autophagy.

Have a watch.

You can’t connect the dots forward, you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future

– Steve Jobs

Most of us want to take risks for a better life. The problem is that we try and map out exactly how it will play out. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt is how unpredictable life is and that you cannot bank on anything.

You should embrace the uncertainty of life. Embrace the fact that you will grow so much from your endeavours, leaving your comfort zone.

You don’t need the certainty like you think. If anything, it makes you paranoid when the inevitable pivots and changes in life aren’t how you envisioned it.

Have a vision of what you want but don’t lock in the ‘how’

There’s nothing wrong with planning your future but the key is to not get too caught up in the details. Life is full of possibilities. Plans change. Values change. Things happen. You will need to be adaptable and a fixed destination only makes you vulnerable to the uncertainties in life.

Our greatest desire in life is to be seen for our true self.

Our greatest fear in life is for our true self to be seen.

The thing we want the most in life is the thing holding us back. Our fears around whether we will be accepted and worthy enough. So we hold the best parts of us back to protect ourselves.

The cost is a life that we intuitively desire A life tailored to the truest version of ourselves.

Becoming aware of this push-pull dynamic between our quest for self-expression and pull from repression is a great guiding point for introspection.

How does my life currently look? Is this what I really want?

If I could have anything, what would it be? Why? How do I get there?

Great starting points.
