Weekly Recap
Hi friends…since we last spoke
Sending this out early! Leaving tomorrow morning for the weekend and just want to make sure this gets sent.
In a bit of a unchartered waters with starting footy pre-season at a new club, finishing Uni and not having set plans laid out, girlfriend been away in Europe now for a month and continuing to put so much energy into this Brookomode stuff without massive clear signs of growth. I won’t lie, been through a few hard days recently and it leads me to my first idea for this week.
2 Ideas from me
1. We trade off self-growth for certainty even if it means guaranteeing a lower version of ourselves
These unchartered territories are not easy because there is uncertainty and discomfort in different aspects of it. I find myself being drawn to the easy options and trading off the rewards of sticking it out for the temporary comfort of certainty. This is my greatest area for improvement and I look forward to winning this battle.
Why would we do something we know isn’t the best for us long term? Our brains aren’t wired that way. We crave certainty and security in the short-term, it’s our evolutionary brain. But I know this and we have information about this so it’s only an excuse and it’s time to take full ownership of the uncertainty.
The way out of this fixed thinking leads me to my next idea.
2. When we get stuck in a loop, all we need is a circuit breaker
Just went out for a coffee with a friend, wowee. I have been stuck in this fixed way of thinking. I needed new ideas, passion and creativity. It was the perfect circuit breaker and some new things are being put in place now. I cannot wait for these things to fruition.
I was nervous for the encounter because it was a pre-podcast episode coffee catch up and I felt in a less confident state with my journey. I was vulnerable and clear with that around my feelings with this and got into a very creative chat that broke my cycle of fixed and limiting belief thinking.
So, are you living by the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? I have been with a few limiting beliefs. Find someone who can change this, but it requires the courage to own your struggle.

“A small gesture may feel like you’re handing over a candle in daylight… But what if to them it’s a lantern in the dark?.”

Wow. You truly never realise the impact your actions can have on other people.
1% Tip
Do it with someone: the self-growth world can overemphasise individuality but the truth is we don’t need to do everything alone. Growth alongside other people is incredible. It helps you maintain consistency and learn from their experiences too. Yes, there is lots we should do alone but not everything.
- run with friends
- gym with friends
- read books with friends
- go to beach or coffee with friends
And talk, connect and see how you can grow.
