Judgement, Pain & Getting Busy

Weekly Recap

Took some time to update this email format, hope you enjoy.

Been a very busy week as I’ve begun working more alongside my footy and podcast commitments. Really enjoying being busy and using my time efficiently. It forces you to be productive and if you enjoy the work, it can be so rewarding.

1 Ideas from me

1. You’re the mean one

How often do we assume other people are judging us? How often do we create stories of negative things they are saying about us? How often do we think that the things we tell ourselves are the truth?

You are in fact the judgemental one. You are creating a mean version of them to say mean things about you. We assume people are thinking a certain way because we are scared of their judgement. We are judging them.

You only have something to lose with this mentality.

The Solution?

Trust people’s intentions are positive until shown otherwise. There is no need to spend anxious energy based on no evidence. Not only is it unfair and often not true, it just makes your life so much more stressful.

2. Quantity is more important than quality when it comes to growth

Everyone talks about quality over quantity. For outcomes I do agree.

However, when it comes to growing in anything, the best advice I have is to focus on quantity. You learn so much more by being consistent and producing more.

In the end, you have developed the ability to work hard and produce. So when you master your process and become more efficient and skilled, then the lower levels of effort will produce higher quality work.

Higher quantity allows for higher quality so using quality over quantity as your excuse to not work hard is a band-aid to the long-term solution of creating a better process.

This relates heavily to my podcasting experience where doing 2x podcasts per week over the last 6 months has skyrocketed my podcasting skills. You learn the most by doing.

“Choose your pain. Familiar pain or unfamiliar pain?” – Unknown

We are always going to have some sort of pain in life whether we like it or not. The pain of our familiar addictions that are holding us back – toxic relationships, negative mindsets, poor health choices… or the pain of the unknown – trying new things, leaving our comfort zone, removing things from of our life.

We don’t know what it looks like. It’s scary and unfamiliar. The reason we keep picking our familiar pain is because it gives us a sense of control. It may be painful but it’s predictable. It’s familiar pain. That’s why most of us are stuck in the same cycle for years on years.

Choose your hard.

1% Tip

Get more busy, even temporarily. It just allows you to see how much more you are capable of. It forces you to be more productive and make you understand what are the most important things required to get moving you forward.
