Limits, Judgement & Boredom

Weekly Recap

Been a very busy week which unfortunately led to a mini burn-out but have taken the time to re-charge. Learnt some valuable lessons and excited to keep on going. Really excited for some guests I have on in the next few weeks. The chat with Em this week was really powerful and worth a listen.

2 Ideas from me

1. Pushing your limits is the best way to find how much you are capable of

Similar to my 1% tip last week. I started added a few more things into my life which have increased my mental load. I was able to add a few valuable things until I pushed it a bit far and didn’t take the time to recharge.

The lesson is that by pushing myself I was able to uncover how much more I was capable of. Yes, I’ll have to dial it back but it has also shown me that my capacity is a lot higher than I realised.

It’s difficult to push yourself beyond what’s normal and comfortable. By not seeking discomfort, you guarantee living well beyond your potential.

Short term pain for long term gain.

2. Surrounding yourself with good people puts self-growth into easy mode

Everyone has their own circumstances which make it difficult to change themselves for the better. One of the most common ones is their friendship group. From what I’ve noticed, it’s the people who find new people to support them that have made the most positive changes.

You can achieve self-growth in old environments but it’s a lot harder. New environments, new people, fresh starts, fresh ideas and a culture of growth put self-growth into easy mode.

Surrounding myself with new people, different perspectives and a passion for growth has inspired me on my own journey, and vice versa.

1 Quote

We judge ourselves by our intentions, and everyone else by their actions”.

Whenever we make mistakes and negatively impact others, we are quick to assure ourselves that our intentions were positive. We are also equally quick to judge other people for their actions and impact on others, not their intentions.

e.g,

If someone posts a comment on social media intending to be funny, they might judge themselves based on their intention to entertain regardless of how the comment is interpreted.

However, if the comment is misinterpreted, it might be judged solely based on the impact of their words—the actions perceived by those who read the comment.

In this case, the person might feel unfairly judged by others who only see the action of the comment, while they themselves focus on their original, well-meaning intention behind it.

The lesson?

Intention does not equal impact. So it’s important to understand this and be aware of how your actions may be interpreted by other people. It’s just being mindful that how you think is not how other people think.

Embrace boredom this week

This is a challenge for me this week and I encourage you to join me. I am going to try to sit with my thoughts more and take more time to be in a neutral energy level. I have done this before and it’s had such a positive impact.

By being okay with boredom, it allows you to have honest conversations with yourself and it gives you the opportunity to recharge your mental battery. It can take time to go from constant stimulation to stillness so be patient as you try to increase your level of boredom.

Great starting points.
