Weekly Recap
Hi friends…since we last spoke
Been a nice week. Don’t need to overcomplicate it. Very happy and grateful with my life at the moment. Few weeks off footy, still training hard and working on the things that matter to me. Hope everyone has enjoyed their last week and plan a big 2024.
2 Ideas from me
1. The No-Reason Theory
We tell ourselves everything happens for a reason. Does it?
Or do things happen, we learn from them and take action. After this, we justify why these things happened because we grew from it.
Why are you taking away the credit from yourself? You did it. Why are we taking the power away from ourselves?
But when we don’t take action, we create these stories that paint us in such a negative light.
“I’m not good enough”
“Things will never get better”
Take responsibility for everything. Things that happen in your life will not be your fault, but they will always be your responsibility. It’s your life after all.
The idea here is lots of things in life are random, meaningless and sometimes shit. There is no reason for every tiny iteration. You create the story. You are the narrator. When your life changes because you had the courage to make things happen for a reason, that was you.
The difference between life happening to you and for you is whether you have the right mindset. It’s your responsibility to forge the right one.
2. Being scared of change masks the real solution: you’re in the habit of taking no action
Most of us want to be better. In our own ways. Smarter, wealthier, fitter, happier, funnier, healthier etc
It’s a human drive to be better. It’s a survival advantage, a status-driven motive. We are motivated and want to put our energy into things but we lack one thing. This one thing is the biggest handbrake on our goals.
What is this thing? Clarity.
How many times have you achieved things you thought would make you happy but left you feeling unfulfilled? How many of you are wanting to be healthier but lack the appropriate knowledge to be healthy? How many of us want to be happier but don’t know how?
So what do we do? We do what we’ve always done. Same old. Take no action for the life we want and find a way to justify it. Or we live with the awareness of it and have low self-esteem. Either way, clarity is everything.
Once I found clarity on my purpose and direction, things became easier. I found ways to be the person I wanted to be.
How do you find clarity? Many ways. Reflection, trying new things, maturity, luck, courage etc
You will often be scared. But once you have clarity, at least you have a path. Then, the real reason why you aren’t achieving your goals will be clear.
1 Quote
“Today I escaped anxiety. Or no, I discarded it, because it was within me, in my own perceptions – not outs”
– Marcus Aurelius
How often do we use anxiety was the excuse for not living the life we want? Too often.
Anxiety comes from fear. This fear is often created by ourselves, making things worse then they actually are.
I understand. I’ve been there many times. Creating these stories in my head that are so far-fetched and out of touch with reality. This isn’t to minimise anxiety and mental health struggles but to understand we are the problem. This also means we are the solution
Taking responsibility is empowering. It gives you control. It gives you hope for a better life. It’s your story to write. It won’t be easy but don’t wish for it be easier, wish for the strength to overcome it. And wishes? Don’t wish, do.

Number 1 Goal setting advice for 2024:
Be inspired by the why but guided by the how (process)
Use your vision of who you want to be as the motivator but put sufficient time into creating a quality, adaptable process that ensures consistency and discipline. Make it easy to achieve your goals.
