Opposites, Mistakes & Failure

Weekly Recap

Hi friends…since we last spoke

First week off from Uni and into the real world… But probably just overdoing a few plans and projects so have had to put some more focus into just a couple of things at a time and place a few plans on the backburner.

2 Ideas from me

1. You notice opposites, not because you want to be them but because they serve as a powerful reminder of who you don’t want to be like

I often catch myself being more aware of negative people and those who don’t look after their body. Because on the inversion are two of my biggest goals: be positive and take care of my body. So if you’re lost for direction, ask yourself: who do I spend my time looking at and why? Remember all judgement is self-judgement.

2. Owning a mistake defines your character more than the mistake

Funny story but I got terribly cut-off at a roundabout yesterday and had to basically stop to let them through but they basically just sped off after their mistake. I asked myself whether they think hem driving off quick makes them believe they were justified in cutting me off. You’ve already done it, it’s not a race anymore haha.

I believe there is immense character building in owning your mistakes. Putting the ego aside. This is how you grow as a person but not only that it’s just about being a kind person who doesn’t blame others and avoid responsibility. In the long run, the blame game becomes a self-defeating process.

1 Quote

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

— Thomas A. Edison

This is a great way to build a growth-mindset. Too often our failures define us but often our mistakes pave the way for progression and clarity. Keeping this quote in mind is vital because if it takes 10,000 new attempts to be successful, how often do you give up before even 10 attempts? Work harder and smarter at the same time.

1% Tip

Keep your phone away from your bedside.

This is a must if you struggle to get out of bed in the mornings. I have done this for over a year now and it’s a game-changer for getting up. Also, it prevents checking your phone during the night where bright-light exposure can interrupt sleep quality. Yes, I don’t always win this battle but at least I have to get up and go across the room for it. It teaches the brain there is work before reward. Repeating this tiny action 100000x has a large long-term effect. The essence of the 1% tips.
