Weekly Recap
Hi friends…since we last spoke
Another great week. Big week of reflection for the podcast and my direction in 2024.
Decided to change the name which will coincide with the launch of my new business which is exciting but also equally uncertain and challenging.
What would you do if you couldn’t fail?
The question I keep asking myself to guide me.
2 Ideas from me
- Your strengths can quickly become weaknesses if you don’t manage them
Too much of anything never works. It’s all about the optimal dose.
Being trustworthy is a great trait but what happens when we become too trusting and easily forgive others which allows them to walk all over us? When does our strength become a weakness? Where are our boundaries? How do we get it right?
For me, one of my biggest strengths is my logical-analytical brain. But for most of my journey it’s been a weakness because I’ve used it in the wrong way.
I’ve let my mind run wild with crazy stories I would tell myself. I didn’t know when to apply my brain’s strengths and when to let go.
The Dial.
In my latest interview with cricketer Corey, he told me that his sports psychologist gave him this mindset tool called the Curiosity Dial. Similar to a noise dial, this allows him to turn it down or up depending on the context.
So before games, he turns it down so he can switch his mindset to performing and not obsessing over things that can be improved. Then after games, the dial comes back up to reflect and look for areas to improve.
For me, this is a skill I’ve developed and will use this tool as part of it.
It’s about picking the right time and having the awareness and curiosity to determine whether we turn the dial up or down.
Trusting people is an amazing human quality that allows you to experience the true joys of love and connection. But ensuring you trust the right people is up to you and comes with asking yourself some honest questions. Turn the curiosity dial up.
Is the standard I will accept? Would I let my loved ones bet treated like this?
The dial allows you to turn up your strengths depending on the situation. Because our strengths can quickly become weaknesses if we let them dictate us in the wrong situation.
We often are very critical of our own strengths because they weren’t applied in the right context.
“Oh I’m such a bloody over thinker”.
No, that is a gift. To be able to care and use your thoughts to manage your life. It’s just because you haven’t been able to use the dial to control your strength.
This applies to everything and is something I will continue to explore and look to create some good frameworks to use this in.
2. Time is an illusion that seeks to give us comfort
Time is a construct that gives us a false sense of security.
We use it as the safety net for our lack of effort and intention.
“Trust the process”
“The right opportunity will come”
“I’ll start next week”
I’m a huge believer in patience but that doesn’t constitute sitting around, making excuses and expecting things to magically happen.
Be patiently impatient.
Work hard, be consistent and continue to strive for small improvements.
Be intentional with everything you do.
Time is so relative.
1 minute of watching Netflix is so different to 1 minute of sprinting.
Time flies when things are comfortable and predictable.
Doing hard and meaningful things magnifies your time.
Don’t wait.
Stop expecting time to solve your problems and start creating the answers you want.
The magic you’re looking for is in the work you’re avoiding.

1 Quote
“Fluency is a proxy for truthfulness” – Chris Williamson
Things are more believable when communicated with confidence and clarity.
They could be completely irrational but we are more likely to believe things when the message is framed with a sense of truth.
So take your time to say it right. Don’t shove the answer in someone’s face.

The Curiosity Dial
Spoke about it up the top. Try it, apply it and see how it goes.
