Optimism & Courage, Hard Things

Weekly Recap

Hi friends…since we last spoke

Decided to take invisible pressure off my ambitions by undertaking more part-time work and lowering my expectations in order to be more efficient.

It has also allowed me to be creative & think about alternatives routes to success without pigeonholing myself down a certain path.

2 Ideas from me

  1. When optimism collides with courage, you become unstoppable

Optimistic people see the positives in uncertainty.

Courageous people are willing to go through uncertainty.

Combine these traits in an individual and you create an individual who not only has the strength to endure difficulty but the optimism to undertake it.

Those two strengths I am trying to cultivate by continually making choices that develop them.

Optimism x Courage = Unstoppable

  1. Your emotions contain information that is personally relevant so take the time to listen

I continually find myself in uncertain situations where I feel like the stakes are much higher than they actually are.

It’s very easy to deny or repress these emotions by telling yourself a story that aims to hide them.

If it scares you, it matters.

Emotions are messengers. Information about who we are based on the circumstances we are in.

For some reason, if it scares you then it’s important to deal with these emotions.

Recently, I did and the benefits of being proactive with my emotions was incredible.

It was difficult and challenging. I had to have hard conversations that were personally scary.

Other people may not get this. They aren’t you.

Don’t minimise your emotions and your story because of someone else’s perspective.

Your emotions. Your life. It matters. Listen to yourself.

1 Quote

“Doing hard things is the price you have to pay to become the person you want to become.”

– Myself

When you reflect on your best qualities, there are often precursors which include difficulty and struggle.

The reality of life is that we grow from adversity and gain strength from the tough times.

So voluntarily doing hard things is the catalyst for the growth you are after.

1% Tip

Ask yourself this question

“What am I doing that I think is productive but really isn’t?”

For me, it’s way too many things.

I’ve decided to work more and allocate less time to my passion because I believe I will be forced to be more efficient and understand what is necessary to be consistent.

Need something done? Give it to a busy man.
